Ambitions for sustainable development are towering at BSB Industry. The UN's 17 Sustainabile Development Goals are central to the thinking of the steel company which is now taking a a major step forward by engaging in an expanded and even closer partnership with windgiant Vestas.

With a shared desire to take responsibility for the development of a sustainable world, Vestas and BSB Industry now make a joint pledge to help reduce the emission of CO2 and the amount of production waste.

Sustainability is at the top of the agenda

In recent years, BSB Industry has taken a number of sustainable initiatives within the areas of circular economy, CO2 neutral welding gas and heat pumps. In combination with the thousands of installed wind turbines, to which the steel company has played an important role as a sub-supplier to Vestas, responsibility has been taken in particular with regard to sustainable energy, the climate effort and responsible consumption and production. These are the three UN goals that BSB Industry is most focused on.

- Sustainability plays a decisive role in everything we do. With this new partnership, we have signed on to achieving a number of goals. We are already doing well with several of them. For example, our operations have run on 100 percent green electricity for several years, explains Winnie Fedders, who is looking forward to launching new sustainable initiatives.

- In the partnership with Vestas we commit ourselves to setting targets for how we reduce our CO2 emissions by 50 percent by the year 2030. On our part, we are now in the process of analyzing and calculating the life cycle of the footprint that Anchor Cage Solutions leave. Anchor cages are one of the main components to wind turbines, that we supply to Vestas. In addition, we look into how to analyze and determine our own and our suppliers' production waste and thus identify the potential for reductions. Here, the goal is also a 50 percent reduction by 2030, says Winnie Fedders.

BSB Industry annually delivers several thousand Anchor Cage Solutions for setting up wind turbines. You can call it a paradox that it is a black industry company that makes green conversion and climate-friendly energy possible, and therefore the steel company is pleased to get involved in the development of smart solutions and new technologies that can pave the way for more sustainable and profitable production processes.
